Research Analyst, Power Projects

Language models read the filings, the registers and the news, and they do it faster than any team of people. What they cannot do is call a developer and ask what is really happening with a project. That is this job. You find the people who know, earn the conversation, and turn what they tell you into records the platform can hold.

What you will actually do

  • Pick a market and the projects in it where the record is thin, contradictory or stale, and work out who would know.
  • Call sponsors, lenders, EPCs, grid operators and advisors. Most of this is the phone, and you make the first call yourself.
  • Get the facts no filing holds: current ownership, financing, offtake, construction status, what is stuck and why.
  • Write every fact into the dataset with the source, the date and how sure you are. A record with no provenance is not a record.
  • Check what the models produced against what your sources say, and flag the extraction that got it wrong so the engineers can fix the recipe.
  • Keep your sources. The second call is cheaper than the first, and the tenth is where the real information is.

What this job is not

  • You are not the one who sells. When a source wants the product, you get them a demo and pass them to sales; you stay their source, and referrals that convert pay a bonus.
  • You are not entering data from documents. Models do that. If a fact is in a filing, it is already in the dataset or soon will be.
  • You are not writing reports. The output is the record, and the people who use it are the platform's customers.

You will do well here if

  • You have worked in or around power projects, at a developer, a lender, an operator, an advisor or a trade publication, and you know what a project looks like from the inside.
  • People tell you things. You can call someone who has no reason to help you and end the call with a fact and a reason to call again.
  • You care whether a number is right more than whether it is on time.
  • You speak the language of at least one market we cover in addition to English.
